Between the 1st April and the 4th April 2022 I walked from Sheffield to Manchester across the Peak District.
The two days across the Peak District averaged 14 to 15 miles a day. The final day along canal towpaths into Manchester was just over 20 miles.
Day one saw me walk from Sheffield City Hall to the village of Hope in the High Peak District of Derbyshire.
On Day Two, I walked via the Great Ridge and the Pennine Bridleway, from Hope to the village of Thornsett. This sits just outside the Peak District National Park above the town of New Mills.
Doing something a bit different on the third day, I took the bus from New Mills to Hayfield, and then went back into the Peak District National Park to a day retracing the route of the Mass Trespass of Kinder Scout which took place in April 1932.
Then on the final day I walked just over 20 miles from Thornsett, down to New Mills and 12 miles up the Peak Forest Canal to Ashton-under-Lyne. From there I then walked just over 7 miles down the Ashton Canal into Manchester. From there I walked the short remaining distance to Manchester Town Hall where the walk ended.
