A year ago, I was honoured to be asked by Janine Wiedel to pen the forward to Bluecoat Press’ definitive edition of Vulcan’s Forge.
Now it is having its West Midlands launch at MAC Birmingham on the evening of Tuesday 8th October. The event begins at 18:30, and is free, but booking is essential.
Event description via MAC Birmingham:
“Join Janine Wiedel and Rachel Segal Hamilton for a discussion on Vulcan’s Forge, Janine’s latest book published by Bluecoat Press. Together they will delve into Wiedel’s groundbreaking work that documented the West Midlands’ industry in the late 1970s, capturing a pivotal moment in Britain’s industrial history.
Bringing the work and the book back to its origins in Birmingham is deeply important to us here and Bluecoat and for Wiedel. With the help and support from the team at MAC (Midlands Art Centre) this event makes it possible. The discussion between Wiedel and Segal Hamilton will happen in the heart of where the work was made, so if you live in and around Birmingham don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about what went into the making of this ground-breaking document of Britain’s industrial heartland.”
